Mike Kennedy has a job that I would never imagine wanting. After listening to him explain his daily routine I not only understand how good he really is at what he does but also that hard work he puts into every game.
From the time he gets up in the morning until the time he gets up from his chair at the end of a baseball game, Kennedy has one focus, baseball. He mentioned he gets up at about five in the morning and gets together pages and pages of notes, stats and any other information he will need for the game. I’m not sure if there is anything that could get me out of bed at five in the morning. But the most stressful part of his day, to me, starts when the first pitch is made.
I’m not sure if I could speak quickly enough or pace myself just right to explain to radio listeners everything that is going on during a baseball game. Trying to keep up and knowing exactly what to say would not be at the top of my list of qualities. The hardest part about that job would be trying to catch yourself after you made a mistake or trying to cover up space if you forgot something or couldn’t find the information you were looking for. That alone would stress me out enough to not even want to try.
